Part 0.4 - Prestige

The sylph paced back and forth, her newborn child in her arms. She packed her essentials before rushing out the door of her family's home. His icy blue eyes pierced her like stinging winds.

How? Why? What are you doing here?

...

in my youth.

No, his youth.. Xerxes would play in the fields with the humans. Xerxes would follow them to the bridge. He let them throw him off, laugh, and leave him in the cold water.

He swam to the shore and laid down in the mud, staring at the sky.

If I had wings like mom, I wouldn't be soaking wet.

The only reason he knew he was her son was that she was "stuck" taking care of him. How? Why? What is she even doing here? She could leave me behind. She could leave him behind.

Nevermind that.

You are beautiful. You know that?

"Of course I know that."

I don't think you do.

"Oh, I know."

Look at her. Look at her. Look away.

"Tell me more."

Fine. I was eleven when I killed her.

"You killed her? Woah."

I think so. I wish I could remember doing it, I hated her more than anything?

"Wait, why? I must've missed something."

BECAUSE SHE.. hm. This is kind of a stupid reason, but it was just puberty I think. Not hormones, more like, I was turning into something she couldn't love. Apparently.

Before you ask, it was because my magic began coming much easier to me. I hadn't learned restraint yet.

Maybe that's why she had to die. She should've taught me.
